The most dangerous self-sabotage isn’t procrastination — it’s outsourced decision-making

We talk a lot about productivity, execution, and mindset.

But there’s a quieter pattern that almost never gets discussed — and I think it blocks more progress than procrastination ever could.

Outsourced decision-making.

You know a rule doesn’t fit your situation.
You see a system failing.
You feel a strategy is wrong.

Yet you follow it anyway.

Why?
Because responsibility is heavier than rules.

“I just followed the process.”
“It wasn’t my call.”
“This is how everyone does it.”

From the outside, it looks like discipline.
From the inside, it’s often self-sabotage.

I’ve seen this pattern repeatedly:

builders stuck in strategies they no longer believe in

creators following advice that drains them

founders hiding behind frameworks instead of making uncomfortable calls

Nothing breaks instantly.
Progress just quietly stalls.

I wrote a short, structured piece exploring this as a self-sabotage mechanism, not as motivation or hustle content, but as a diagnostic lens.

I’m curious how others see this:
Where do you draw the line between discipline and giving up responsibility?
