The Most Important Branding Strategy for Tech Companies.

A tech company founder gave me an impossible task.
In his exact words - "We want our brand to look like Apple"
But what does he really mean by that?

He's aiming for more than just a sleek design. What he wants is to be recognizable. He wants trust, loyalty, authenticity.

So I explained to him that while I can't promise his rebrand will turn his company into the next Apple, I do have some insights on branding in the tech industry to share.

The tech industry is heavily focused on branding the technology itself.
But the heart of tech is its users - the real people.
So stop focusing on branding the tech and start focusing on the people using your products!

In this space, there are a lot of abstract concepts and gradients - lots of gradients - but it often lacks emotional connection.

Web3, Crypto, AI Tech are social technologies for today’s customers, and today’s consumers want to feel the human connection.
They want more than features or benefits, and even more than experiences - they want to belong.

One key question to consider is: How does my product help customers express their identity? Remember this across all customer touchpoints—your website, app, emails and social media.

My best advice? Develop the finest product possible, but have a heart,

and think different.
