The most underrated and powerful marketing channel

Believe it or not REDDIT is the most underrated and powerful marketing channel out there. The amount of organic traffic you can get from it and the precision with which you can target users that could be interested in your product is crazy. If you’re not using reddit to advertise your start up or product, you’re living money on the table. The best part is that you if do it correctly, you can advertise for free!

Here’s how you should be using reddit to advertise your product or start up:

1- Identify and join the subreddits (reddit communities) where your potential customers hang out. There are thousands of subreddits out there, it’s very likely that there will be 10+ communities related to your product or the problem you’re solving. Large subreddits usually have a section of “Related communities” that can help you find even more subreddits related to your product.

2-Next, users will often post frustrations abut current solutions that they’re using. They will also ask for recommendations and alternatives. A lot of times they simply post about the problem they have in general. Every time you see a post like this your jobs is to reply to them. Don’t just plug your product, try to offer some value first or try to relate to the user in some way. At the end of your reply, let them know that your product might be a potential solution to their problem. If you don’t have a product yet, this can also be a great way to find product ideas or to validate ideas.

3- Regularly post about the problem your product solves or anything related to the problem your product solves. At the end of the post you can plug your product. Most subreddits will allow you to do this as long a you provide some sort of value upfront. You can say something like “btw, this product has helped me with this in the past because this or that. These are some of the features it has… .

This is exactly what I did with this post. I provided something valuable first, and now I’ll plug something that some of you might be interested in and find useful. I’m working on a tool that automates the 3 steps I described above; it allows you to send tone of traffic to your product and from people that are genuinely interested in what your product has to offer. All you need is to provide the niche or target customer for your product. If this is something you would like to try out let me know! (Twitter: @Wolffe_22)

Yep, Reddit is still super underrated for growth, brand monitoring, driving word of mouth and even market/comp research.

I highly recommend Surfkey.io by @JohanCutych for always finding relevant threads and comments.
