The myth of tech meritocracy
There's a big stigma about the engineers at FAANG. The truth is that I know some of these engineers, and they got the job simply because they were able to implement certain features with JavaScript or Python - but they don't necessary appreciate or understand the nuances of these languages.
It's better to pretend your the real deal rather than to actually know how to code.
Well, the reason a company hires you is so that you can implement features they need, they don't necessarily care whether you know all the nuances of a language.
Besides the one's I know are really fluent in the languages they operate in. There's going to be good engineers and bad engineers everywhere.
