The ONE thing you need to get right for SEO

I might be biased about the effectiveness of SEO as I have developed https://vispr.net which is a SEO WordPress plugin that solves SEO with do-follow backlinks through UNIQUE ready-made partner directory pages.

As most Indiehackers starting a new project will not even use WordPress for the landing page of their projects, this might not be a working solution for most people here. But this is not about my solution, but what YOU can do that effects your SEO from day 1 before you even start your project.

I know, I know, this sounds super lame and obvious, but keep reading as 90% of people are doing this wrong!

All my client websites do not follow this rule and I can easily compare them to my personal project sites that are set up like this. There is a HUGE difference. I get weekly reports on human and bot traffic and malware checks and so on. I noticed that as soon as you use this next strategy, even websites under construction start seeing around 200 weekly visitors immediately. Whereas if you ignore this nothing happens and you get no visitors AT ALL.

SO what is this super secret strategy?

Easy: Use Google search phrases and the most important keywords as your project name.

Wait WOOT?

When you think about it, maybe you realize that the MOST IMPORTANT question of your whole project is: What should your project name and hence your domain name be?

As it becomes harder to find any free .com domains every day, you maybe wanna get creative and use a unique (and fancy) name that gets no search traffic so you don´t have to compete with the other Billion websites out there.

Wrong!

If there is no search traffic for a term, then OBVIOUSLY no one will be looking for this in the future! People are just looking for what they KNOW about.

Just take a look at this example and you see the difference:

ecc.com
vs
email-copy-cleaner.com

When you google "ecc" you get some 300 Mio. mixed results completely OUT OF CONTEXT. There are likely Zero human traffic hits on that domain. Only (bad) bot traffic.

The latter has 200+ visitors weekly and is still in stealth mode with not even a waiting list or coming soon page up. If you google "email copy" you get 5.8 Billion results related to email copy and email marketing. So this obviously is a "thing".

The name "email-copy-cleaner.com" is using a keyword rich search string as the name. It even offers a potential solution to a common problem. Make sure to use "-" to find untapped .com domain names that are actually easy to read and to remember.
