On Clay: I'm building the detection layer with Apify hitting sources directly and passing structured data downstream, not relying on Clay's waterfall for signal enrichment. Clay is strong for contact enrichment once you have the company, but for the signal-in step the latency and format inconsistency of the waterfall was a bottleneck. Honestly the only way I have found that does not turn into a full time job is picking two or three signals and ignoring everything else. For us it is funding rounds and key hires. That is it. We set up alerts using Google Alerts and LinkedIn Sales Navigator saved searches. Takes maybe 15 minutes a day to check.
The trap is trying to monitor everything. You end up with 50 tabs open and no outreach sent. Better to catch 30% of the timing windows and actually act on them than track 100% and never follow up.
