The Perfect Mastermind Meeting

Hey Hackers, I’ve been facilitating mastermind groups for the last three years, and I’ve been constantly experimenting to find the best meeting agenda. I want to share that agenda with you. I’m a huge believer in the power of mastermind groups because they “outsource” motivation, problem solving and accountability to a supporting community. These groups make us more effective people and entrepreneurs, and they’re also a great way to build deeper network connections.

Here’s the mastermind meeting agenda that I’ve found to be highly effective (4 - 10 people):

  1. Updates & Accountability Check (1 - 2 min per person) —> Brief updates on the individual, their business (share KPIs), & if they got their goals done that were set at the previous meeting

  2. Wisdom Roundtable (~5 min) —> Any ideas or resources worth sharing

  3. Spotlight Session** (20 - 30min) —> One member uses the group as a sounding
board for their biggest challenge, business idea, design, decision point, etc

  4. Goal setting the coming week (remaining time) --> Each member states the goals that they want to finish before the next meeting

**For larger groups, you can use the “breakout” feature in Zoom to split the group into smaller groups. This enables multiple people to benefit from a spotlight session each week without having to wait ~9 weeks until it’s their turn again. Alternatively, you can break out into groups of 2-3 for a “live journaling” session...this is a great time to work on personal & business development questions.

It’s best if there’s members that play the scribe and facilitator roles. The facilitator keeps everyone on track and the scribe posts resources and goals for the week in a Slack channel, or sends them out to everyone in an email.

I hope this inspires you to find a mastermind group or start your own. I’m a firm believer in their ability to give us an extra edge of information, inspiration & productivity / accountability. I have ~4 spots left in a SAAS entrepreneurs mastermind, but to qualify you must be post-revenue. Other great resources for finding a group are sites like indie hackers, reddit, facebook groups & mastermind matching websites.

Happy connecting!

My team is very multi-ethnic and people live in different countries of the world. It's very difficult for us to meet in one place for a team-building and it's difficult to find a meeting room for this. I live in Tallinn and decided to look for meeting rooms near me, I found a company that responds to all my requirements and our team building was successful and productive. Can you recommend me meeting rooms in the USA or other European countries for 15-30 persons?
By the way, the company I talked about - https://myspotit.com/en/spot/tallinn-design-house-meeting-room/

This is great, thx for sharing @nomadic_drew!

Besides Zoom/Slack/email, are there any other tools/workflows that you recommend?

in my groups, we use a typeform to collect goals from each member. google forms would work too! great to integrate with slack

        Thx for your reply @nomadic_drew

If you don't mind sharing, wondering how you're using member goals: for matching people into groups? for agenda topics? both? others?

not sure I totally understand your question -- in my business, mastermind groups are organized based on member goals (eg, "SASS Entrepreneurs"). They also affect breakout room topics and other agenda items.
