The Power of Feedback

January 04, 2025 - I wrote a post titled "Roast My Web App"
(source: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/roast-my-web-app-dbdb0b1c46)

I was not looking for a roast but it was an interesting move to reintroduce my web app HAY.
(source: https://gethayapp.com/)

I received only 3 comments and they were eye-opening for me.

The first comment was from @bomSourcingGuide: " Is there a hyperlink? we are lazy, that barcode is only good for RL "

Yes! This comment helped me understand that some services do not need to follow the trend. For the HAY web app, I did not need a QR code because the web version presents the service, and the mobile version is the service.

The second comment was from @MinMinchew: " I built a landing page roster here: https://5pe64jq3d0rf.trickle.host/. You may want to check it out. "

I checked the roster page and I understood the limitation of feedback.
Feedback is not a " solve-it-all " solution. You can not solely rely on feedback to bring the necessary change to your project.

The third comment was from @coderWolf: " I really didn't understand the purpose of the app. Like - what were you trying to achieve, or how you were going to do it? The process felt quite vague / not put together well, if you know what I mean.
Here's a good question - how are you aiming to provide the solution, for the users, and what area of their lives / mental health are you trying to improve?
Also, on a side note, I wouldn't really care much about the UI, but rather, focus on the core problem solving part. It'd be nice if I could understand it, as in what you were trying to achieve. The 5 pillars of self-improvement? Was it more like a survey app, or were you trying to see the impact of the sound on the users' answers? Like some sort of scientific / psychological test that I am unaware of? "

This comment was gold because when I started answering it, a refocus of the HAY web app happened.

Originally, the HAY web app was focused on mental health in general as a mental health helper. Thanks to that comment, I pivoted to focus the HAY web app on positive reinforcement as a happiness advisor.

It allows me to narrow my competition, understand their underserved market, and cater to it.

Those comments put me back in the grind to push some meaningful changes to the HAY web app that you should check at https://gethayapp.com/

Thanks for the feedback

P.S: Don't forget! The website to understand the project and the mobile site to use it.
