The pre-coding prompt that prevents production breakage

I keep seeing the same pattern with vibe-coded apps:

A founder asks for a small change. AI updates the first file it finds. The UI looks right. Then an API contract, database assumption, or business rule breaks somewhere else.

The fix is not “use less AI.” It is to make AI inspect before it edits.

My pre-coding prompt:

“Don’t code yet. Trace this change through the full system. List what it affects, what could break, and how every risk will be tested.”

Review the impact map first. Then let it implement.

It adds a few minutes up front and saves hours of patching later. 🧠
