The problem with trying to make the best things

It's much better to launch a bad software today and improve it over time, than to wait launching a perfect software!
It reminded me of a line from Boris Grebenshchikov's song: "I no longer try [to make the best things], and now everything is fine."
Making a thing, looking at it, thinking about it, trying to make it better.
Learning,
Best is a concept.
No one single person decides what is "the best"
But many people decide their own thing is "not best" & they alone decide that.
Make stuff that makes you happy.
Some of that will probably make other people happy, maybe.
Doesn't matter.
It made you happy.
trying to make the best thing can lead to you not making anything at the end, cause it is just overwhelming and you end up burnet out and quitting..

Challenge your friends to a battle of Vampire Survivors game. Who will be the last survivor?
nice
The problem with trying to make the best things is that it can be difficult to define what "best" actually means. "Best" can be subjective and dependent on individual preferences and needs. For example, what may be considered the "best" smartphone for one person may not be the best for another person based on their specific usage requirements.
Furthermore, the pursuit of creating the "best" can also lead to a focus on perfectionism, which can be detrimental to progress and creativity. When the goal is perfection, it can be easy to get stuck in an endless cycle of iteration and refinement, without ever actually producing a finished product.

I agree, making things that are perfect is a form of procrastination.
This is the biggest hurdle. I'm sure my products are going to look way different a year from when I initially put them out there. A lot to be said about iteration and flexibility.
Yeah having the best thing, especially in the early phases doesn't make sense. Have something that is "Good enough" and then growing it to be the best thing is the way to go.
woah, I actually wrote a similar draft post - I used to write articles that were more genuine to me, but somewhere along the way it feels like something changed - i stopped writing regularly because I feel like the web changed..people became like brands, and theings feel more contrived to me. I think the genuine writing will come back around!
Had a big struggle and argument with this when our co-founder decided to launch Evoke's MVP.
We we're launching with just a stable diffusion API without anything else.
Turns out it's actually been fine. Even with just an MVP, we've still had some success.
It's great to hear that you value curiosity and that you find joy in asking questions and exploring new ideas. It's important to remember that creating content doesn't always have to be about proving something to someone or being the best. It can also be a way to express yourself and your unique perspective.
One thing that sometimes gets buried in the "launch fast" explanation is the fact that getting something out there immediately allows you to challenge your hypothesis. So often you spend time building the "thing" that you KNOW customers will love and you put it out into the world and it turns out customers actually like that tiny feature you barely worked on that looks awful and only works sometimes.
i like this post!
ohghhh
Instead of trying to make the best thing, I focus on trying to make things as well as I can.
I believe everyone deserves to see your best performance. It doesn't need to be perfect and it doesn't need to be the best out there, but it should be the best you could do in that time and under the circumstances you were in.
I've had this same feeling before but always thought it was just fear or something similar trying to stop me from trying my best. But your reasoning makes a lot of sense. This has certainly given me something to think about.
I so identify with this. You've put into words something I haven't been able to explain myself - why sometimes I feel shitty when trying to be the best - it seems counter-intuitive but now you've explained why. Thank you for this 👏
Happy Wheels is a bloody and exciting obstacle course. There are many unique characters in various levels. This is a great game for you to experience.
