I shipped a small suite that reads the documents people ignore as a proof of concept: contracts and terms, insurance policies, medical bills. Free tier works. Analyses complete. A few strangers left kind reviews. Directories approved the listing. Insights articles are live.
Stripe is still empty.
From the outside, this looks like a launch problem. It doesn’t feel like one from here. Launch day came and went. The tool does what I said it would do. The gap is the one I keep hearing in this community and didn’t want to believe: useful is not the same as “I’ll change what I do in the next two minutes.”
The pain is real and short. Someone is staring at I Agree, a renewal packet, or a hospital PDF. They know they should read it. They also want to get on with their day. My product lives in another tab. By the time they remember it exists, the moment has passed.
What I have tried:
• Shipping more surface area (three apps, one credit pool) instead of picking one buyer
• Writing guides so search and AI tools can find the problem
• Listing on directories
• Replying in threads instead of boosting ads
• Asking other founders for feedback — which I get. What I don’t get is a freelancer with an MSA this week telling me they paid.
I’m not looking for “just run ads” or “just pick a niche” as slogans. I want the boring version from people who crossed $1.
What did you change when the product was done and nobody had paid yet?
• Did you freeze features and only talk to one kind of user?
• Did you watch one person use it on a real file and rebuild the last screen?
• Did you ask for $7 before the product felt ready?
• Did you stop talking to other founders for a while?
The site is nexusdocs.ai if you want to see the thing. I’m more interested in what you did in the gap between “it works” and “someone paid.”
