The silent majority in software development

I definitely fall into this category. By nature devs are introverted so speaking up isn't our thing and I'm fine with that. I don't want to be in the firing line for something that often isn't even worth mentioning in the first place.
Don't you think that "by nature devs are introverted" is a stereotype? When I was a kid, I thought that all devs are fat, have acnes and can't talk to people. That was the reason why I did not want to become one :) although, I loved coding, I did not want to become a developer and it took me a while to understand that it was a stereotype.
I'm not talking that devs love talking to people a lot :) It's just I think we should be careful about the way we use stereotypes.

I think this is changing. As you say, we're at a point in time where developers come from completely different generations. It may have been the case in the past for them to be silent but I'd say the current generation is more outspoken, that's my view anyway. And yes, it's a good thing if they have something valuable to say.
