I was at University when some friends and I were sat around having the same discussion of food in the shops being orientated at families and buying in bulk. Unless you want to eat the same meal 4 times in a row, you don't have much of a choice when.
I then went away trying to make a meal plan in Word, researching each item and how it could be used differently the following day, but after a few hours it was only half done and I thought this was very much a logic problem for a computer to fix.
A few weeks later I had a basic script, which worked well enough for me and other people said I should turn this into something that more people might want to use
And so began meal matcher. It didn't start out as a business, but as a pain point in my life that everyone could relate to. Food is a common everyday challenge for people, and it seems there would be a market for it if it is executed correctly.
I researched competitors, what I liked, and what was missing, and sat and built for the next 6-7 months realising there was nothing like what I was building in the UK market at all...
I totally relate to this! When I meal prep on Sundays my week usually has just a couple of different meals. If I want more than that I end up eating out for lunch and using the lunch boxes for dinner. In Sweden, where bringing lunch boxes is becoming more common, especially among younger adults who do it almost every day, an app like this would be really handy!
Funny you mention this!
Today and tomorrow I’m implementing the meal prep feature for people who want to cook once then enjoy the same meals throughout the week.
As some initial feedback I got was that not everybody has time to cook each meal from scratch.
that’s really interesting to hear how Sweden is similar to the uk, thank you for commenting
Well done, this is looking really nice:) Looking forward to a shopping list export! Good work
a different and interesting perspective
