The Story Behind My First Podcast Appearance

As a very busy PhD candidate, Co-founder of an early-stage startup, and lead of the product team; it’s not a surprise that I am obsessed with podcasts. They are usually a great source of inspiration, useful information, entertainment and they are easy to digest.

Looking for a way of working on my own founder branding with the best ROI, I created a guest profile in matchmaker.fm. To my surprise, I found in the platform many interesting podcasts I did not know, well-produced shows, and a friendly community to connect with.

A couple of days after I had joined, I received a message from Kristine Esparza, host of Scaling SaaS Operations, a podcast show hosting conversations with SaaS founders and other industry experts. Kristine asked if I'd want to be a guest on her podcast. I didn’t doubt to accept the invite!

Kristine made the experience so smooth and enjoyable :raised_hands: We had a 15 minutes intro chat to define the topics to discuss and she even gave some technical tips I could apply during the recording session.

Luckily, the conversation evolved pretty naturally and we were able to go into some interesting topics from my experience in research and academics that led to starting Scrintal to the lessons learned by talking to customers and understanding their values and how that helped me lead the team to make decisions.

Some days later, after a bit of edition work, the podcast episode was out. Honestly, I had to take some courage to listen to it fully! I was afraid of sounding funny or unarticulated! Fortunately, the episode turned out to be a gem! I shared it with some colleagues and I even received some good feedback.
