The story of my Online EdTech Marketplace

Greetings fellow IH:

People all over the world start businesses out of frustration, a need to solve a problem or just out of serendipity. The reasons for starting a startup run the gamut. I just wanted to bear my soul here and share mine

This is the story of wizwonk (An EdTech Online Marketplace)

As a young Dad of a 8 year old daughter, and a busy software developer with a high paid day job, I set out to get my daughter, not only a decent private education, but also private help (hire a private tutor) at home to maximize her potential. However, I grew frustrated with what many existing EdTech platforms offer in terms of helping students hire fully vetted and background checked private instructors. We went through many instructors (not bringing back any of them after the first lesson) because most instructor's profile do not live up to the hype. In other words, most of them do not know very well the subject they purport to be an expert in.

Long story short, I saw an opportunity and a need to solve this problem. I decided to build an Online/In-Person Ed Tech Marketplace that address some of the pain points reviewers elsewhere have struggled with. Wizwonk.com arose out of a need to help my own daughter and is now a full service ed tech platform with some of the best private instructors (fully tested for their knowledge and fully vetted)
