The user acquisition channel can charge a SaaS business XX% fee, but % of what?

If someone can acquire a paid user on your behalf, I think you are willing to provide XX% fee to them.

But is that fee one time or a recurring one until the acquired user leaves?

Because of the user's LTV, I think it should be recurring, but can somebody tell me current practices in the market?

I believe you're talking about affiliate schemes essentially.

In which case you'll see two common approaches:

    1. A recurring percentage, usually in the 15-50% range (sometimes capped to 12 months)
    2. A single payment, that usually exceeds the initial first month payment. So for a $15 per month product, the referral may well be $45.

The recurring percentage one is in my experience the most common.

Thank you @td_evans! That's exactly what I was looking for.
