Because you are trying to sell your product to potential customers.
Counter-intuitively, this actually makes it harder to, well, sell your product to them.
Why?
Because, as human beings, our primary motivator is avoiding loss. This is a cognitive bias called loss aversion and it evolved as a survival mechanism in our ancestors a long time ago.
What this means then is that, when you try to sell your product to potential customers, you are triggering this cognitive bias and this dramatically reduces conversion rates.
The solution is simple.
Stop selling a product in your marketing & sales messages.
Instead, promote a belief that they can adopt and implement without having to buy your product. But, if they do decide to buy a product, they can only buy yours because the belief leads back to your solution only. This is a type of belief that I call a BLUNT belief.
Why does this work?
Because, by not selling a product in marketing & sales messages, you can side-step this sales resistance. They will likely adopt this new belief (for reasons too long to go into here). And, because of consumerism, eventually, they will seek out products to help them better implement this belief in their lives.
