There Are Many Origin Stories but This One is Ours

I spent about a decade in tech—building startups, breaking conventions, and selling disruptive technologies. Over those ten years, I helped scale three companies to valuations beyond $500 million, raising over $100 million in venture capital along the way.

But I began to notice a problem—and it kept getting worse.

The go-to-market playbooks that once fueled rapid growth were sputtering. Outbound sales, once reliable, became less effective. The market shifted and cold outreach became yet another noisy annoyance in a world increasingly resistant to interruption.

Somewhere along the way, sales teams were asked to do the impossible: create demand, rather than harness it. It was an expensive, unsustainable game.

This realization set me on a new mission.

Startups needed a smarter, leaner, and more effective path to market. One where sales teams scaled along side incoming demand rather than desperately trying to drum it up.

I knew there had to be a better way. So, I launched Growth Marshal in 2023 to help startups grow organically. We now construct inbound lead generation systems that power lasting growth—finally!

Today, we’re the premier SEO agency for startups. And we win everywhere search happens.

An origin story can reveal more about a company than the initial product idea. It explains what problem the founders experienced closely enough to care about solving and often provides the conviction needed to stay with the business through difficult phases. From an investor perspective, that founder-problem connection can be a meaningful signal, especially when it translates into a clear understanding of customers and a differentiated approach to the market.
