There Is No Finish Line in Product Building

My recent experience building React Vibe has taught me something:

Building a product isn't just about writing code.

I'm currently working on the September update, and the weirdest part is that every time I think I'm getting close to finished, another UI idea comes to mind.

I built that.

Then I notice something else.

I improve that.

Then I find something in the existing UI that could be better.

And the cycle starts again.

You don't know how long it will take. You don't know whether people will care. You don't know whether the next update will actually make a difference.

And yet, you wake up the next day and keep building.

Then there are all the things nobody puts on the "building a product" checklist:

Marketing it.
Talking to users.
Fixing things nobody sees.
Improving UX, SEO, performance, and documentation.
Throwing away work you've already spent hours on.
Making decisions when you don't have enough data.
And constantly questioning whether you're moving in the right direction.

I'm also still learning how to balance all of this with actually taking care of myself.

And the funny part?

Even after the September update launches, I won't actually be finished.

I'll probably already have another idea I want to build.

That's probably the biggest thing I've learned:

Building a product requires technical skills. Continuing to build it requires something completely different.

There isn't really a finish line.

You launch.
You improve.
You learn.
You build again.

And the process keeps going.
