There's no point in having a mission unless it's shared

It's a leadership skill to create a shared goal for your startup team. It matters most when you want to turn your team members into partners.

You should create a vision and mission for your startup and find co-founders who share those with you. People who are willing to sacrifice things, if necessary, as you are.

As a startup founder, it's easy to forget the goals and get lost in a ton of daily tasks. I suggest setting and tracking OKRs to keep up with your goals.

Break down your goals into 1 year (What you want and can achieve in the next 1 year). Then break it into 3 months (What you're going to achieve in the next 3 months). Then break it into 1 month (What you're going to do in the next month). And finally, break it into weeks (what you're going to do in the following week).

Set weekly meetings to plan and organize the following week and review the past week.

The agenda of this meeting can be something like this:

Review your ultimate mission. It helps you remember why you're doing this.
Each team member should report to the CEO what they've done in the past week. Take it as seriously and yet as casual as possible.

Review the obstacles, find solutions and make decisions. What should change? What should improve? What needs to be fixed?

Plan for the next week. You can also do this in a separate meeting, at the beginning of each week. In that case, review the results of the above 3 steps before you start.

How and where do you share the vision? Do you make it public on your website?

Yes, anywhere possible. But the most important thing is to have a knowledge-base shared with your team so they can follow and contribute on. The vision can be included there. Also, it's important to mention it in the meetings to make sure all decisions are aligned with your shared vision.

There's no point in having a mission unless the profit is shared. Just my point of view. 😜

Haha yeah. It's crucial to have everyone settled on the profits and shares :)
