Thinking of taking my tech tutoring & courses online - any tips?

At various points in my freelance career, I've taught people to code through my own in-person courses, in-person tutoring, and online tutoring.

The online tutoring was through a platform that provided course materials so I was more doing support. It didn't pay enough and I didn't enjoy the experience. More or less I was just pushing people through an online coding bootcamp that was waaay too difficult for first-time learners.

Recently, I've become more motivated to take my tutoring online, first off with d3.js. I know that 100% 1-on-1 isn't scalable (that's ok with me for now), so I'd be looking to develop a hybrid approach where there are course materials as well as 1-on-1 time. In the process I'll be developing some content (e.g. screencasts) that can double as content marketing as well as learning materials. This will take me time to build up - I've produced screencasts and materials in the past, so I'm aware of the effort that goes into them!

Anyway, before I begin this journey, I'd like to ask fellow Indiehackers what they've learnt from doing something similar. Asked another way, what do you wish you'd known before starting out?
