you make $5k out of a total of $7k? doesn't appsumo have like 70% cut? so shouldn't you make like $2.1k?
AppSumo Select takes 70% cut. AppSumo Marketplace takes 30% cut.
what does it do differently? i've heard that on the 30% cut, you have to promote it & appsumo does nothing on their end.
can you give the details? googling doesn't help much.
You're right AppSumo does nothing, except host the sales page, deal with refunds, payouts, and if you have solid reviews, over 4 tacos average, you can get promotion as you get more reviews. 5-10 reviews gets you a promotion, then 20 reviews gets you another promotion. I would tell you the details if I had them in front of me, but I don't. And they do tweak/edit/change their promotion ladder over time.
I myself have been very lucky to be promoted in 2 blog posts, on their fb group, and in a footer of a couple Emails. Also Noah put me on a list of Noah's Picks which helped greatly.
I don't deny I have been lucky, but also others can do similar tracks.

more than 3,000 members total. approaching 3k sales via Appsumo alone.
In Appsumo marketplace they don't promote your products on email newsletter or ads. It just stays there. On Select, they run ads.

I see ads for my Marketplace deal all the time on FB and Instagram.
so you promoted zlappo on marketplace? curious, how much did you make from it until now if you are open about it?
perhaps, you are promoted bcz you are a unique one-of-a-kind high-in-demand product. everyone uses twitter schedulers so it's a steal. kinda like what nichesss did for gpt-3 copy.
Those maybe carousel or retargeting ads.
so marketplace = only site traffic (no newsletter or ads)
& select = newsletter, ads, & site traffic

Yes majority of sales comes from Ads and Newsletter.
If the product niche is crowded then it's hard to get sales with Appsumo Marketplace.
