This might be my favorite advertisement of all time...

For maybe the third time in my life, I accidentally stumbled across my absolute favorite advertisement of all time. Here it is (picture also attached) http://www.infomarketingblog.com/space_ads/weckesser_beer.pdf

Here's why it's so killer:

  • The Headline: "How to Make Your Own German-Style Lager Beer For Only 12 Cents a Bottle." Crystal-clear value proposition, straight to the point, not too clever, includes a number (always good), ultra specific about the beer, and you can never go wrong with the "how to" approach.

  • Positioning: The subheadline positions the product as "a mini-brewery in your own home." It's not just about making your beer-drinking habit more affordable or convenient. It's actually about a transformation that takes place where you live. This is a concise way to share a really big idea. Hard to do.

  • The Offer: Forget about brand-building, this ad makes the reader an irresistible offer. Try it free for 45 days and if the beer doesn't blow you away, they will pay you $5.00 just for trying. 100% risk free.

The "Blindfold Taste Test," the FAQ format, the customer reviews — I could go on and on.

This ad is both inspiring and a swift kick to the nuts. I've got a long way to go but just wanted to share.
