This video is very inspiring! One of the concepts reminds me of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, where we need to meet our basic needs such as food and water, safety and shelter, love and belonging before we get recognition or status. Meeting these needs will then help to go further in life.

    Hi everyone!
I am a first-year student at the University of Adelaide currently studying Bachelor of Psychology (Advanced) Honours. However, I have also taken upon an elective subject in entrepreneurship, and part of my first assessment is to network with entrepreneurs. I would appreciate it If you would kindly take a few minutes to answer a couple of the following questions that I have listed below. Thank You!

What industry are you in and what made you want to join this specific industry?
What was your goal starting out/what motivated you to start a business? Was it out of necessity?
What sort of challenges did you face when starting out? Any sort of financial or emotional burdens? If so, how did you overcome such issues?

      Hi Jas!

Welcome! Always nice to see somebody interested in entrepreneurship so early in their career. I think Psychology is a perfect fit, especially if you want to work in advertising, behavioral economics, UX design, etc.

      Here are my answers:

What industry are you in and what made you want to join this specific industry?

I currently work as an advisor in a local incubator. My passion for entrepreneurship and startups made me want to work in this industry, so I took up the initiative in the fall and asked to join the incubator. It covers my living expenses, on the side I do the indie hustle ;-)

What was your goal starting out/what motivated you to start a business? Was it out of necessity?

I do believe somewhat in the "entrepreneur"-gene. My grandfather and subsequently my mom were both entrepreneurs, so I think that passed on. At an early age, I already brainstormed business ideas and being an entrepreneur (ofc in a child-like fashion, but still...)

I decided to dive into this field while attending college because I had the financial and personal freedom to do so. Now or never.

What sort of challenges did you face when starting out? Any sort of financial or emotional burdens? If so, how did you overcome such issues?

My biggest personal struggles are perseverance and self-accountability. I'm continuously testing productivity methods such as bullet journaling and Pomodoro to work on this weakness.

Hope I could help! Good luck on your journey!!
