Thoughts and Opinions on AirDev

Hello,

I am completing the AirDev Bubble Bootcamp. The AirDev template is 199. I see it is powerful, but wondering if it is worth the price.

Any opinions on this from builders who have used AirDev? Please let me know what your experience is below.

    Hi @DavidHalmai,
I've completed the professional bootcamp last Dec too.

I'm actually wondering about this too, not about the price, I honestly think is cheap, given all it gives you.

Wondering about what to use for my next project Canvas VS Frames ($20/month):

Just subscribed to Frames to have a look but compared to Canvas it is pretty much naked. It has layouts, components... but they don't come with defined styles, nor states (onhover, onclick, disabled...). Neither comes with workflows and all the rest.

I don't think there’s anything as comprehensive as Canvas around. As you know, it'll saves you tons of time since you don't need to worry much about views and basic behavors. So you focus instead on data and logic.

For instance, just think about the work of doing the signup flow from scratch, with forgot password, reset password, send welcome email... etc, or do the Header from scratch... or just the styles for each component...

That's what I'm facing with Frames and it's taking aaageeees...

What I don't like about Canvas tough is that it is too much, it tries to solve every possible need, so there're too many workflows, variables, validations etc that I'd never use. That's deadweight that makes my apps slow

Pricewise, I think is cheap, if you're serious about building fast, if you care about performance and experience over dev speed, better start from scratch or use some lightweight framework/library like Frames

What have you finally decided? how is it working for you?

Hi super, thanks for the reply.
So far, I am really impressed with the power of AirDev + Bubble. You can create a working app that looks good + responsive in a fairly short amount of time.
I think for MVP it is a great choice.
I was wondering how it renders code etc. All the unused workflows aren't triggered?
I notice there is an optimize app button in bubble settings.
There is no way at this point I can become a full stack dev, sys admin, and market, fundraise for a product dream, so AirDev makes sense for me. I can do all that so i can focus on marketing and promo and support and docs. hehe

I am doing module 4 now in the bootcamp. Excited about apis, stripe and the advanced features.

I agree. Its worth the price, if you can create a SaaS that can become profitable.

Optimize button removes all unused styles, that's it.

Whatever app you'll build with Canvas will be clunky, but, as you said, more than good enough to test an idea and more.

Just be mindful that Canvas licence, like Bubble subscription, it's tight to just ONE app/project.

Good luck with the assignment. The Capstone is fun :-)
