Thoughts on legal terms during alpha phase
I have my application MVP basically in alpha stage where I just want to get open feedback from people who would use it. I don't want to put money or time into a terms of service / privacy policy before I know if the application will be useful and that I will continue on with it.
Any thoughts on how to handle this? I've thought about just putting a note on a terms page basically stating this state of the application and that it's as is and can change (or go away if it doesn't work out) at any time. Not to mention liability concerns.
Or is this something I just don't worry about right now?
Just copy mine and change anything that doesn't quite match up. A very generic version of these docs should suffice in the early going.

I actually just commented on another forum post about this.
I use termsfeed.com to generate my terms of use and privacy policy. According to CA law, you have to have these if your planning to have customers that are residents of CA.
Thanks for the heads up, tvmaly. Do you know by chance if they're required even if the application isn't event charging?
if you are collecting customer information even if your not charging, you need them. Also you need them to handle DMCA complaints.

Wow, thanks for the detailed reply. I should have been more specific with my question but you covered it anyways in your detailed response.
My main concern is #3 and #4 you mentioned. I have no legal background/knowledge specific to software aside from browsing the occasional ToS of apps I use, and I just want to make sure for some crazy (perhaps unlikely) reason I don't get myself into legal trouble with a troublesome user (troll-ish?) and that I have myself covered.
I think your last comment about ToS hits it on the head and covers most of my concerns.
