Hi folks,
As a software engineer, I google a lot of things a lot of the time. This is a critical aspect of my job as a software developer. And because I spend a lot of time googling things I don't know or things I wanna learn, I thought it might be a good idea to build a tool that lets people rate google search results.
I built a chrome extension that allows you to rate a google search result relative to your search query. For example, lets say you're trying to learn about recursion, and so you google "recursion". This tool allows you to rate a search result that you thought was the most helpful resource in your journey of learning recursion, or the least helpful for that matter.
This way, the next time someone else comes and wants to learn about recursion, they can see aggregated results of what other people thought about the search results for the same query.
This possibly allows you to spend less time searching and more time learning. Lets say this tool brings social proof to google search results. I'm writing this to gauge interest in that tool. I'm in the last stages of rolling this project out.
Would you use is? If not why? Please be as harsh as you possibly can.
