Thoughts on twitter extension?

twitter has recently increased the price of its api making many business relying on it unviable however i still see backdoor through browser extensions. Anybody trying this route or have tried to make extension? what is twitters attitude towards them ? are they hostile towards it? what are your thoughts on this?
