I've designed the landing page for our MVP (customer service as a service) and I wanted to take a quick poll on whether or not using a domain like - domain.webflow.io would scare you off from the lander.
I have a few other projects hosted on Webflow, but those are generating income. I wanted to keep this MVP as low cost as possible. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Since a domain can be had relatively cheaply, I would say if your hourly rate x hours spent on the landing page is over $500, why not spring the extra $10 for a domain?
The cost of Webflow hosting is the main issue. It would drive up the cost of the project up. I already pay for Webflow and I've designed the lander there, but you have to buy hosting for each individual site.
I figured I'd save a bit of money since we're only looking to start conversations with our potential market (like Buffer did way back).
I don't know how webflow does it, but in many cases you can buy a domain elsewhere and have it point elsewhere in many different ways -- some that look more natural than others. In the worst-case scenario, you can just do a redirect, which should cost nothing (past the initial $10 to register the domain).
Early stage I would have ZERO concerns whatsoever, either as the founder or as the user. (Honestly, most people won't even be that detail oriented to notice.)
This seems like one of those things that someone might let slow them down, but honestly has no impact on your outcome. Don't worry about it and just stand that page up!
(side note: I'm also an avid webflow user and love how much you can customize everything. That's a blessing and a curse, so don't get too bogged down by that!)
Thank you for the reply!
Webflow can be dangerous. I've had to stop myself from going crazy once I start designing the sites, ha!
