Thoughts on vlogging progress of new project?

There are some posts about streaming your progress while building a startup and the disadvantages of doing so.
Two main reasons can be that stream is long, so the viewer won't stay/loses interest in the itsy bitsy parts.
The other issue for the streamer/project builder could be the fact that he would have to manage the stream - talk/react to the audience.
(if he's got any, the fact that no people are watching the stream can have a demotivating effect)

I saw a few people are doing vlogs on youtube and other platforms about progress with their startup. So it looks like it's nothing out of ordinary.

To add relevant information to this question - I'm about to start work on my project, it will be a platform for developers, where they can learn, teach, and solve problems together. (very short description)
And I always liked it when I could look up a company and see how they solved some of the technical problems with their products, for example, Clarna and WhatsApp have some nice technical talks how they scaled their erlang clusters and used Mnesia for bigger data storage.
So it would be interesting for me to watch a project from start to "finish", but I want to confirm, that it's just not my confirmation bias so I ask you, IH community for help.

What are your thoughts on doing so? Are there any benefits to it?
(for example, the audience will perceive your brand as more trustworthy - of course, if done right and it won't come out as fake)

Thank you for reading this post, I know it's a longer one than usual. :)

    yes. yes. and yes.

    i'm doing it daily: http://yen.show/

we don't have that many views, but, it's a communication medium that's helping our community stay together through the pivot...

and it's been a huge part of our story!

    i'd do it.

We had this grand ambition of doing weekly vlogs on building our business - total fail.

First of all it took way too much time editing for it to be worth the few views we gained on youtube.

Secondly; Some ordinary people building a business is actually not that interesting to watch (i.e two people sitting at their dining room table in front of their laptops all day), so we realised that we started doing things to have something to vlog about. Things which were actually not giving anything to our business but only stole time from what was important to us.

In hindsight it totally wasn't worth it for us at the time we did it, we were too early in our process. On the upside, we did gain a client at one of the events we went to to have something to vlog, and actually met one of our now best friends at a conference we went to for the same reason.
