Thoughts one week after switching from indiefounder to full time employment

My project is still doing very well! Had to join a company for personal reasons. Some insights:

  • It's not easy switching from owner goals to team/department goals
  • I entered meetings vouching what's best for the company owners (shareholders, long term profits), most employees and departments are siloed, think from what's best to please their manager's biases
  • Simple things that can be fixed immediately are spread across multiple meetings and brainstorming sessions

Finally: If you're an indiehacker with a small app and unsure if you can ever take on a massive corporation, you sure as hell can!

You just need to do one or two things better (focus on iterating, getting it wrong, fixing, iterating again) than a whole suite of useless features that take months to get to market.

All the best!

To come to market faster, concentrate on improving how you implement only one or two features rather than developing a plethora of unnecessary ones. I recommend this read: https://driving-directions.co

I've always heard the biggest advantage small companies have is their ability to move fast.

    And I agree.

As Indie Hackers, some of us want to eventually get pretty big.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on how a growing company can protect itself from becoming a slow, bureaucratic organization!

Because It would be terrible to wake up one day and notice you've become that big, slow corporation being crushed by a indie hacker with a small team.
