Why?

That extra nudge of accountability to achieve even a small step on your IH journey each day.

To join in:

01 Share your epic (a big chunk of work with a meaty objective) you'd like to complete by the end of May.

02 Share what you accomplished yesterday.

03 Share what you commit to accomplishing today.

04 Comment on at least one fellow hacker's progress and give them an IH Point for their check in.

Optional:

05 Share your Work In Progress to underscore your accomplishments.

Then tune in the tomorrow to share how you did on your own tasks!

    WIP
Figure out what the f*ck to do next. LOL

    1. 2

Domain buyers? Are you selling off a few unused domains?

      1. 1

Yup, but for just one, maybe two.

    Last night:

    Kudos:
@vcmartins I think this is a really good idea. I don't know about data science but I'd imagine there's a need for a "leetcode for data science."

Hopefully I'll be able to post a link this weekend to a beta test.

    Thoughtful Finance

[May] App published in app store.

[Yesterday] Allow users to reconnect their bank account and fixed some crashes.

[Today] Add a custom error modal component that explains what went wrong and how to contact us that I can use for any unexpected errors that a user would encounter.

[Kudos] @Harlem holy shit your website design is beautiful. How did you accomplish that?

      I bet that’s a fun problem to solve ;)

      1. 1

Yeah, syncing and encryption, especially end to end, are hard on their own. Putting them together is intense. It's been helpful to read through existing whitepapers (eg 1Password) as a guide.

    2. 1

(Laughing!) Thank you! I'm always a bit self conscious about my design "skills" as I have no formal training. So it's lovely to have someone appreciate my amateur efforts!

Question: What makes your app "thoughtful"?

      1. 2

I honestly figured you had hired a design agency to do your websites. They're legit.

Thoughtful encourages you to be thoughtful about you finances. Not overly frugal, not stressed out, but consciously thoughtful. I'm working on some features to help people tie the value of the product/service they received back to the amount that they spent. I'm also working on the ability to spread expenses out over time and merge expenses to help with this.

        1. 1

Got it. My one piece of feedback would be that that landing page doesn't speak to 'thoughtful', but rather simplicity and security. (Smiling) I was left wanting!

          1. 1

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I haven't gotten a chance to work on the website recently but I agree. I'm planning on trying out Webflow and making an actually decent website soon. Just so much to do and so little time.

BTW, in case anyone is into "making" things, I LOVE to do projects with hardware integrations, and Announcr falls into that category. Here is a video I took when I ran my initial hardware test early this morning for the location client. I often forget to capture Eureka moments, but I did this time!

@Davey I'm here for hardware for sure! It's been a while. When I consulted adidas innovation team we did some amazing stuff with NFC and BTLE...

My wishlist project that I only keep in the back of my mind, but don't build is essentially an alexa-for-business. Perhaps one day... but for now the boring stuff!

        1. 2

I love that you two are geeking out! Awesome!

        2. 1

          That looks AWESOME!

BTLE is an important part of this one too. Estimotes on the way! I do Alexa skills for brands in my FT contract, and built out my own voice platform before jumping ship to the Alexa platform. This project has some elements of what Alexa is too, it's really a "smart speaker" solution but without a microphone. I would have loved to use it as a device platform but the session limitations are... limiting.

          1. 1

Super awesome!! The session limits are always a bummer. What did you use for your voice platform? I'm anti-vendor and have a crazy lab in the office. We play with kaldi, rasa, spacey and a homegrown flow manager to handle multi turn dialog. Only issue with kaldi is its just not fast enough.

At one point I used matrix lab's hardware with a gen 3 rasp pi and 3D printed up a case, created my own magic.

            So many options...

            1. 2

I made a node.js socket server tied to a native speech recognizer called from a Unity App. Database and ML for entity resolution

Hmm... tell us a little about yourself. Are you following Asimov's Laws?

Thanks! Decode Data Science looks cool, too!

Misc suggestion for you - the title and home page link are a bit hard to read on my big monitor because of contrast.
