TidalWaves API - live, tokenized news metadata from around the world

Heya, I just launched my first product yesterday, and I think Indie Hackers could be interested in it because it's specifically for solo developers and small teams wanting to analyze live trending news without having to build a data pipeline.

The API provides stories, articles, keywords, and locations for breaking news around the world in 15 minute intervals - so as close to real-time as you can get it currently, for the number of sources.

I also managed to get it to the front page of Hacker News, which was pretty freaky and turned into a 5 hour PR event. It got a lot of interest, as well as criticism - and I'd like to hear IH's take.

For anyone interested, I have a few questions:

  • Does anyone have experience with hosting their product on Rapid API?
  • How do I know if people are REALLY interested, rather than just intrigued by the website? Should I count the number of paid subscriptions after 1 day, 1 week, 1 month?
  • How aggressively should a new product be marketed? Blast it everywhere as soon as possible, or just take it easy and post it in the cool places?

While this post is sort of advertising, I'm actually more interested in having people take a look at it and give their feedback, so any help is appreciated.

You can check it out here: https://tidalwaves.io

Thanks!
