TikTok launches text posts on the heels of Twitter renaming itself to X

Twitter is being published from all sides.

TikTok has added text posts yesterday.

Meta Threads has added a 'Following' feed about 2 hours ago.

...all while Twitter renames itself to X.

Not a good combination. What do you think will happen? Will Twitter succumb to the pressure? Will it eventually become irrelevant as a platform?

I think everyone is underestimating how hard it is to cause a social network like Twitter to death spiral. The network effects are too strong. There are just too many communities and important people there.

If Twitter crashes and burns, it will be due to its own mistakes, rather than to competitors.

That said, they're making plenty of their own mistakes. This rebrand is stupid. Twitter has one of the most recognizable and beneficial brands in the world. They're throwing it away for "X" which is a terrible brand. But I don't think that will be enough to kill them.

If they mess up their algorithmic feed, and start showing people the wrong stuff, and usage declines as a result, that'll be the end of Twitter. But nothing else will be, imo.

Sharks never stop watching your moves. It's a valuable lesson for us indiehackers as well.

I really don't know what will happen; I just don't understand the motive or trend that compelled Elon Musk to change a logo. What can changing a logo possibly achieve? Besides, when I woke up, I couldn't find Twitter for a moment, and I felt speechless!

    your posts are very interesting

Twitter is not about features, servers, or architecture; it's about people who, through interacting with each other, create unique content.

On Twitter's side, there is a significant audience inertia caused by the IKEA Effect. The more users invest their attention and time in the platform, the harder it will be to pull them to another platform.

Against Twitter are the awkward actions of Elon Musk.

Currently, Twitter faces no threats as competitors are merely offering direct copies of its functionality without any fundamentally new offerings.

In my opinion, the chances of becoming the new Twitter lie with decentralized services like Mastodon or Bluesky. But , they face the super challenging task of attracting a critical mass of audience or developing entirely new mechanisms for social interaction.

They say that X is meant to be a lot more comprehensive and incorporate messaging, payments and AI features. It's supposed to be like a "super app" and global marketplace.

Balloon Musk, presses all the buttons to save the swamped Twitter. But the global economic crisis will crush Twitter.

Only time will tell whether TikTok's decision to launch text posts will be a success. However, it is clear that the platform is not content to rest on its laurels. TikTok is constantly innovating and looking for new ways to attract and engage users. The addition of text posts is just the latest example of this.

I keep wondering why many companies are trying to build out a twitter competitor now, when it has already plateaued in terms of user growth.

The simple answer is that these firms have offerings in the image and video space(which is already saturated). So the only frontier left is text which is twitter's fiefdom.

It is ironic that twitter is trying to become like other social networks by embracing scrolling videos when the very same networks are trying to become more like twitter 🤣

At least something we can all agree on here is that he seems obsessed with the letter "X"!

I don't think musk will care, twitter is just his toy, space x is the real kid

      I don't think it's a toy.

Its plan is to make X similar to wechat, to dominate payments, chat and social media. All in one app

'X' is super cool! ! I like that.

there's a new reason to replace Google with TikTok when you need to find information about something

With Elon Musk owning it? I don't think they're going anywhere. In fact, they might get more traction because so many people/companies are trying to kill it.
