TIL about the concept of 'Luck Surface Area' and how it can greatly benefit you

TIL about the concept of 'Luck Surface Area'. That means the amount of serendipity that occurs in your life. LSA can be increased by communicating or sharing with others about what you do.

The reason is that when people become aware of your work/expertise/passion, some percentage of them will take action to capture that value, but quite often it will be in a way you would never have predicted.

Maybe they'll want to hire you, or partner with you, or invest in you, or who knows what. But in whatever way it happens, it will be serendipitous.
I love this quote from Arnold Schwarzenegger inspirational speech "Work Hard and Advertise".

This is why many people have started building in public.

Adam Wathan and his team tweets and write articles about everything they make at TailwindCSS.

I got to know about digital nomad community when I read Pieter Levels inspiring article "12 Startups in 12 Months".

That Arnold quote was dope, though.

You are right but I think there's more to it than networking. I would call LinkedIn or meetups as part of networking but not tweeting, blogging etc because here we emphasize on providing value and spreading the word out about what we do. Networking would be the by-product of this.
