Time tracking? Is it evil or how to make it useful?

Hi there :)

There is a bit of polarization regarding time tracking and the tools around that.

I am currently in the process of building a time-tracking app, primarily targeted for developers(contractors/freelancers and not employees)

I have been using a command-line type of time tracking for myself. It's simple and gets the job done. Also, it looks cool :)

A few ideas I had so far are that I would implement the following features:

live-sharing specific project, so people can see exactly what is being worked on and they can comment

voice commands, so you can start and stop the work using your voice (e.g. start working on X, stopped Y 10 minutes ago, etc.)

My questions to you:
In what way would you like to use time-tracking?
Which features do you see as the most important?
What kind of insights would you like to get out of tracking your time?
