I would argue that the best type of SaaS you should create in 2024 and beyond are tools for SDRs (Sales Development Representatives).
Those tools benefit from a virtuous "Double Lock-In effect",
which generates a "Triple Win" retention.
A large proportion of their clients are agencies / freelancers integrating those tools in their daily practice, in two ways:
1° Agencies & freelancers are using the tools to generate their own pipeline = lock-in #1
2° They're using the tools to generate leads for their own clients = lock-in #2
If the tool delivers the expected results in both scenarios, it's a Triple Win:
SaaS vendors make recurring money.
Agencies/freelancers make recurring money.
Clients make recurring money.
A few examples:
https://expandi.io/ close to $10M ARR
https://lnkd.in/eeJrmc4q
https://evaboot.com/ $2M ARR, bootstrapped
https://www.clay.com/ 30,000+ clients Clay
https://apollo.io

With some extra features (e.g. lead sourcing + multimodal automation) the latest generation of CRMs, such as Folk.app, could also be added to this group.
In one sentence: Go Where The Money Is.

Great article fred! 👏 You cleverly identified the current and future trend of SaaS tools for SDRs. Your insight is invaluable and will help many aspiring Indie Hackers to succeed!
Thanks, glad this can inform & inspire some people.
I´m building a Software that puts the whole topic of Lead magnets on one site. From collecting, building forms and publishing to analyzing.
I think that goes in that direction doesn´t it?
It's one of the tactics used by inbound marketers (whereas SDRs are usually more focused on outbound efforts).
But still worthwhile of course!
Best of luck.
Ok, I understand, thank you very much!
I'm thankful for your insight! 😊👍
You're welcome. Best Of Luck in your endeavours!
