Tips for doing customer development in the American real estate industry?

My family has experience working in the American real estate industry. I'm looking to learn about what software is used and what kind of niche I can best serve. I'm thinking about trying to find some people within the real estate industry to conduct customer development interviews on, but I'm not such which segment of the market I should choose (for example real estate agents).
