Currently, we have an onboarding email campaign that sends out a series of emails with tips on how to use the product, etc so fairly standard stuff. But would love to hear any interesting ways that you've gone about taking users from sign up to active.
We are happy to do things that don't scale right now - for instance, we are thinking of offering to be an 'accountability buddy'
Depending on your product, you can engage user when some actions happen in your application. For example in https://seodity.com we send users emails with on-site raports every week, daily SERP raports, alerts about domain expiration, ssl/tls certificate expiration and many others. It really helped us to get these stagnating users to come back to our product.
I'd be really happy to read about other solutions as well, as it's something that you can always do better I guess :)
Cool thanks! I really like the idea of sending a weekly report of some sort, will think more on that.
Hey Matt, I'm here with you man. I just added a whole "gamification" compound to our service last month on the top of the email onboarding and the monthly news we send. That something you can think about doing.
Also I would say less and less people use email the way "we" do. They see email as a necessary inconvenient to use the internet.
On a second hand I think people (and it's of course highly depend on your niche) are lazy AF. They want to get things fast - instant - with minimum friction - zero - mostly for cheap - free - and using it like they use Facebook if possible, which is a massive unconscious reference for lot of peoples.
Ok sorry for the rambling. One think you could try is to use a messenger bot like https://manychat.com/ (that have a freaking 87% open rate) on the top of your email and propose your users to choose between the two at signup.
