Tips on monetizing 6,000 newsletter subs

Hey everyone,

So, I was out of my indie hacking life last year for a few reasons, but this year I want to pick it up from where I started.

I have small niche blog that got me more than 6,000 subs on my newsletter.

Instead of trying some shiny new thing, I think I should focus on monetizing this better.

At the moment I only sell a few ebooks and sell sponsor spaces on the newsletter and both are not as consistent as I would like them to be.

So, here I am asking you gurus of marketing and sales, what would you do in my place?

Any tips and resources appreciated.

I understand it's not easy to constantly look for sponsors. I have been running my Micro SaaS Ideas Newsletter for 22,000 subscribers and created Pro subscription where members can subscribe for Pro content.

So, here are a few options you could consider:

    • Adding Paid memberships where you can send some high quality content
    • Offer 30min to 60min consultations for a fixed fee so people can get those consultations
    • Charge a little money and add subscribers to Discord channel and provide a way for people to interact.
    • Create Info products (courses, books etc) (Looks like you have already tried this with books but may be try with video courses).

Thanks for tips, I will try them out.

Hey, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this but do you have any tips for anyone that just launched a newsletter? I through together a quick landing page to start collecting emails, but I'm not too sure how to promote it.

I read an article about superhuman recently that I think is relevant for you. I think what you need is to track your progress toward product market fit, and you can do that by sending a survey to your subs. Ask them "how sad would you be if my newsletter canceled tomorrow". Focus on the people who will be "very sad". Figure out who these people are, where they are from, what problems they solve with your newsletter, and perhaps ask them to pay for the current content/premium content. Since you have so many subs, you may even be able to run a test where let's say you have 200 people that belong in this group, you ask 50 to pay $10, another 50 to pay $15, 50 to pay $20, and the last group to pay $25. See how each group responds and adjust pricing accordingly.

    Good luck!
