Hey IH! 👋
As someone who occasionally needs random names for game characters and pets, I got incredibly frustrated with the current state of name generators. Most of them are heavily monetized, packed with intrusive ads, or hide results behind email signups.
So this weekend, I decided to scratch my own itch and built Animal Name Generator.
Instead of just making another generic tool, I wanted it to feel different. Here is what I focused on:
Brutalist UI: I am tired of the standard "SaaS template" look. I went with a high-contrast, slightly chaotic Brutalist design (heavy borders, no linear animations) to make it stand out.
Zero Friction: No accounts, no cookies, no BS. Just pick a category and click a name to instantly copy it to your clipboard.
Contextual Details: I added dedicated pages for specific niches (like "Badass Cats" and "Exotic Pets") with subtle SVG watermarks and custom sub-categories to make the experience more immersive.
It's a pure Vanilla HTML/JS/CSS side project. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Brutalist aesthetic and the overall UX! If you have any fun category ideas (like Cyberpunk pets?), let me know.
