To all aspiring programmers

Some great takeaways here. And yes 'find something you like and keep doing it' is key. You may stumble along for a while but in the end, you'll get there. Believe in the process/journey.

I am on the opposite of the spectrum. Being a coder/engineer most of my life. Built PC, embedded system, smartphones. From device drivers, to kernel, to middleware, to dev tools, to mobile/desktop apps to webs apps. Did project/program management, product management, strategy. did bunch of c level roles. Ex-hacker, ex-pro gamer before pro-gamers. Now I am exploring anything random (just started taking bunch of masterclass).

I'd say it's true that "you need to find something you like and keep doing it", so much that you'll be sacrificing a well rounded life. But that's the thing, missing a well rounded life, I am not sure that's for everyone.

Great story and congrats on finally being a programmer. I'm currently looking into getting into coding and have been reading a lot of stories of how people got into it themselves. Yours gave me a unique perspective. Thanks for sharing.
