Flatpilot - Your Apartment Search On Autopilot
Flatpilot offers a Chrome extension that simplifies apartment searching by aggregating listings from major German housing platforms, enabling users to apply with a single click.
The design looks nice, but very tech oriented i'd call it. I think a "simpler" value proposition could work better with non tech people. Not sure if people are willing to pay for it as most of the platforms don't manage to get people to pay for anything so they just put a crap ton of ads on their pages.
I'd make sure to be able to accept PayPal because germans often don't use cc.
I would also imagine that 100 applications a month is plenty. maybe reduce that if you want to upsell quicker.
Why is it a chrome extension ? browser extensions are a hurdle for non tech people for sure and while you can probably interact with some of those platforms easier this way it might be to putting people off.
The one to many application makes all the sense to me as it becomes cumbersome to even just copy and paste all the time.
I think I would prefer to pay once for it per application process you might be able to price it on avg. usage based on that. because i'll cancel the moment i have a new flat. It also corrects the incentive meaning the quicker the process the more you make.
Just a couple of thoughts, very cool all in all !
Hi Marv, thank you for your insightful feedback!
Accepting paypal is an excellent point - noted.
I made it a Chrome extension because of the interaction process. Initially, I used scrapers running on a server, but this triggered bot detection systems if too many requests were made, requiring IP rotation after some tries. Instead of dealing with that, I found it much easier to use a browser extension. I understand this might turn some people off, but it seemed like a simpler approach for the MVP.
Pricing based on the number of average applications is also a good idea, but I would need some data or an estimate for that. From personal experience, it takes around 50-100 applications to find something in Berlin, but this is specific to big cities.
Do you have any ideas on how to phrase a simpler value proposition?
I think the design looks nice. How do you think you are going to keep the MRR up? once someone finds an apartment they aren't likely to move again for a while. So you will have alot of churn?
Btw just had a look at roombriks - and the interactive demo looks fantastic 👀
Thanks appreciate it :)
That's a great point, and I’ve been considering that issue as well. I’m currently conducting interviews to see if people would prefer a one-time payment option, such as paying once for six months of access.
Additionally, I plan to incorporate an affiliate program where users can earn discounts by referring friends or sharing the product on social media. With a subscription model, churn is definitely a concern. What are your thoughts on this approach?
That's a good idea to do that. could you pay a fee once you get matched or they use your one click application (which sounds nice)
