Today I've charged first customer for my open-source framework

I'm working on open-source framework called Mercury. The framework allows user to convert Jupyter Notebook into standalone web application with interactive widgets - just add YAML config header to the notebook. It is perfect solution for data scientists that would like to share their work:

  • data scientist doesn't need to re-write the analysis code into web framework (no HTML/JS/CSS coding)
  • just add YAML header to define widgets
  • sharing the analysis is as easy as sending a link (great for non-coding end users)

The Mercury code is available on GitHub: https://github.com/mljar/mercury

The Mercury is open-source with dual-license. It has AGPL_v3 license and commercial license. The commercial license provides dedicated support, more features and allows private forks.

Today I have first customer that bought yearly subscription! :) I'm super happy. The framework is still very new, I started to promote it on January 2022, the development started in December 2021.

The dual-licensing might be a way to monetize your open-source project - you can work on things you love.
