Too Many Newsletters Out There?

Hey Hackers,

I have noticed on Twitter that everyone and their dog have a SubStack now and it is certainly paved the way and lowered the barrier for entry for someone to be able to publish content to their followers about anything they're an expert on.

I had recently just closed the doors on my previous startup (it happens!) and so like any IndieHacker I am looking around and spitballing new ideas. If you are subscribed to multiple newsletters (even clothing/brand newsletters) I would very much appreciate your input with this short survey

I have a very basic beta that is essentially a newsletter aggregator but also allows you to explore similar newsletters, view past ones, sub/unsub easily. Just a way easier way of following all these content providers but without getting 20 emails a day!

Let me know what you all think!

that is why I built the Newsletterest (https://newsletterest.com)

Damn, we have a newsletter for newsletters which shares other newsletters?

      That's not newsletterest, that's inception.

Now, look at that! I didn't even know something like that existed. That is exactly along the lines of what I was thinking of anyway - ah well!

how it goes with these "anonymous subscriptions". I'm building something that can offer that experience (not based on email newsletters), but I' in general interested in the adoption rate, how do you selling it, do people want it, do people register etc

Cool! Just filled out the form :)

I don't think that is actually the problem to solve for. I use a free email address right now for newsletter and would never sign up with my real one anyway. The email hiding is what apple is currently addressing and more an issue with apps that then send you all their spammy content.

For actual newsletters, It's more about how to weed out the gems from the top 5 lists with generic "believe in yourself" type articles. It would have to be a pocket like services, where newsletters are like RSS feeds and the best and most relevant articles are being ranked.

I so rarely read newsletters anymore and the problem is not a lack of good content but across linkedin, Twitter, Medium and Newsletters, its hard to focus on something so you focus on nothing. Even my Pocket queue is full of great stuff that I never get around to.

Tl;Dr; I don't think the email is the real issue but discovery.
