Tools for Creating tutorials

My users are rather old school or from developing countries. So I want to offer written documentation of a full tutorial on how to use my app. (also I will do videos to offer aswell).

Looking for any suggestions on tools that could help put out a nice looking tutorial (preferably with HTML code) that I could paste into my wordpress site and would be responsive to show well on PC or Mobile device.

Last time I just used ODT files (open office) and then had to muck around further to get the formatting right. As well as updating it in future can be quite cumbersome for formatting issues.

Any thoughts much appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Pete, if your users are "old school" don't you think video tutorials will be more helpful to them compared to writing out help docs? Obviously both would be ideal, but if you had to pick one..

Yes videos are always good. But some people (especially in poorer countries)..
      Have weak internet connection
      Have costly bandwidth
Prefer to view a written article
Or even print it out to walk through it

        Yea those are good points

I'm not clear on the actual problem. WordPress is basically meant for writing this type of content already, isn't it? What made open office better and writing the content than WordPress' editor?

I highly suggest videos! Visual is the way to go - it's so much easier than reading (although the option to read as well is definitely awesome), it can even help with SEO. Chrome has a bunch of free plugins to record screen recordings.

An example here is the Header section that contains the in-page links, having that shown on the left hand side in a column format so that the content would be on the right hand side. And having expandable/ collapsible sections would be good. Kind of like how Microsoft does their tutorials.

When I tried it, the finicky nature of formatting and alignment in the editor vs the previewer was very frustrating. Things like bullet alignment, automatic numbering/lettering, columns and tables.
