Tools for "Remote[Standing without PC]" Web Development

Hi,

I will be starting my delivery job on my motorcycle next week because I've spent just too much time without income. Too many failures in previous partnerships and startups.

I have a 3 years old iPad, a Laptop & a Phone. I'm planning to code and continue my existing web app development as and when I'm waiting for an "order" for the delivery. From my understanding, the time-waster is waiting to collect the food for the customers. Standing without tables nearby. The laptop can last 5 good hours at high brightness but it's bulky, I think I can only use Laptop when I'm on the bike. Singapore malls don't really have free spaces you can sit around on.

I'm thinking of using an iPad. I'm a Full-stack developer using Laravel mainly & love collecting and analysing data, figuring out how to monetize it and make it useful for the public, and I use AWS Cloud9 on a live site for web development. I love it because changes are instant and you can do it from any PC as long as there's a browser.

To be honest, I really don't know how life would turn out but I love developing web applications, in the past, I've made a lot of mistakes, got taken advantage of by "business" partners, perhaps I'm just naive and stupid back then, doing "Free" for "shares" in company/partnerships.

I feel wasted a lot of time since I dropped out of university at least 5-6 years from all these failed "web apps". People call it experience & people love to say "you're young, you still have time" as if I don't deserve being paid because I'm still a "student".
Now I realised those are really toxic. I don't have time ... I have a family and a house that is coming.

Delivery provides flexibility and pays more than a non-degree certification in Singapore. Human Resources mainly pay based on your certification, they take advantage of it. I, unfortunately, don't have a running/alive site that I kept as a portfolio to ask for a higher salary. Especially for someone with a hole in the resume, it's more of a disadvantage than an advantage.

Please do share with me tips and tools that you think could be useful to use on an iPad / Phone / Laptop for really remote development.

I'm going to try this out next week and adapt accordingly & really hope I can plan time in between this work to continue coding so I can launch soon.

I can only speak from personal experience, and perhaps in your country it is different or my situation is not comparable to yours. But I hope it works for you.

First, if you want someone to hire you as a programmer, you have to have a website with your portfolio, or your "abandoned projects" are public on github.
In your portfolio you don't need to be able to access the projects. You just need to have screenshots of how they looked, and explain what problems you found and what technologies you used to solve them. This gives you credibility.

On the subject of what to work with (phone/tablet/laptop)
    I don't like programming on phones/tablets. I prefer to have a keyboard.
I looked at it for a while, and in my case it works well to have a 15" laptop and a very small but powerful netbook.

In my specific case, at that time in my life I wanted something to use standing up on the train on my way to work (almost impossible to sit down in the morning). I had 3 hours a day of transportation to the office between going and coming back (luckily I don't do it anymore). I also had to use it as a second laptop if the first one broke down (I have an external monitor and keyboard at home). I wanted a laptop so small that I could hold it in one hand and use the other to write, but powerful enough to work locally.

Right now I have the https://www.gpd.hk/gpdp2max and I'm very happy with it
It's expensive, but powerful and it's so small.
In your case, if you want something cheap, I'd look for a simple netbook and work connected directly to the server (sharing network with the mobile for example).

Hi, I understand you, life is a very difficult thing and it becomes more difficult in each day. I am sure after 5 years you will remember how was your life now and will say '' yeah... what nice time''. I had the same situation, I dropped out from university because of my bad final year exams and I have started to work on uber eats as delivery guy ( Netherlands (I am from Canada) ) . I think the best way will be to use Iphone for that because it is faster and better (my opinion). If you want to use a laptop I can suggest also to do not forget about PC optimization software. You can check https://thinkmobiles.com/blog/best-pc-optimization-software/ for finding the best one
