There's a big claim (heroku-like experience on AWS), and I dug up a little bit in the three links, didn't find something that substantiated the claim.
You're building something that hits a nerve, a real problem I've experienced and haven't found an option that isn't going to cost my client a lot of money, so we went with heroku, an extra login/place where there's a credit card on file, a thing we were trying to avoid.

My work for that client is over for now, but if I get back on the project and a heroku-to-AWS move is in the scope, I'll try to remember about digger.
But really, the active research for a tool like digger happened as I was looking for ways to accommodate hosting a Rails app under my client's AWS account, and the alternative I was avoiding (the option a tool like digger was in competition with) is having the talk with the client about considering yet another login/place where there's a credit card on file.
That's the struggle point.
Heroku's cost is not just its steep price inclination as you add resources, it's also that it's an extra account to login to. See what I mean? That's the appeal of digger.
The anxiety with digger, is that there might be a heavy learning curve, or worse, a toolset my client won't know what to do with. Heroku experts everywhere, digger devs, not yet.
