Total Maker Paralysis

I'm suffering from total maker paralysis. In the past I've had plenty of side software projects to work on. Monetizing these and making products out of them is relatively new to me and I want to head in this direction but as soon as I try to think of useful things to build that people will actually pay money for I go blank. I have a scientific background and most of my side projects have always focused in these areas but none of them seem remotely monetizable. But when it comes to the SaaS domain I am at a loss. I am currently at a big company working on very sophisticated software and I am finding it hard to scale down to something marketable and manageable. I have all the skills to make a SaaS happen but I can't for the life of me find something useful to work on.

Has anyone experienced something similar and if so how did you get around it?
