Track movements of people with coronavirus

I have an interesting idea but I don't know how it will actually be implemented.

This application will track the movements of everyone who downloads the app and notify the user when they have been close to a person infected with the Coronavirus.

I'm interested to hear what the community thinks.

I am a Chinese. It seems that you have some misunderstandings about our China, especially the politically meaningful news you read everyday. In this epidemic, we chose to isolate ourselves and stay home without going out. It ’s because life is above freedom, and only things that people do alive are valuable

"we chose to isolate ourselves and stay home without going out" -> that's the point that the world need to understand. Only Asian Countries and Italy is doing it also...
I don't hope so, but looks like without a full quarantine, the number of death will be much more than the number in China.

I think privacy would be a big concern for users. What the information of tracked moments would be visible to? Would this be for public service and be open-source?

This has already been done as an experiment by the BBC in 2018. You would need to collect tons of data...not sure how is this supposed to help, the numbers are not on your side because there will be no 100% adoption rate; and currently 0.00000000...001 of population is infected. The subset of infected is to small compared to the entire set that you need to track.

I like the idea, but I think it can be an excuse for other people to go out since they know that they can dodge the people with the virus.

I know it is a good idea, but this is not a good thing for privacy. Maybe if is not a exactly position. and Just maybe a heap map

Ethically speaking it seems a bit iffy, but I definitely feel like people would be interested in an app like this. As others have said though, implementing this would be almost impossible without access to data from the gov.

    OMG, DUDE!
I literally just spoke about this yesterday to one of my friends, like integrating with GMaps and tracking them where ever they go.
Then we dropped it because it's kinda in that grey area of privacy intrusion because every step is tracked of the user and data is collected. Maybe.

https://youtu.be/9qRFrCzQMlY?t=965 They have exactly that in China. However, collecting and monitoring people's LIVE location is going to be much more difficult in the US I presume.
